I did some digging of my own and found out the Orchid made a stop on Thetis Prime before coming here, and Thetis Prime has just made some 'incredible archaeological discoveries'. It could be nothing, but it's just an hour ride by transport away.

Doctor Urvidian just got back to work from his little forced three month vacation so he doesn't want to leave the med bay, and Jane just said 'I'm not going to prison' when I told her where we were going. So that leaves you.

[And obviously Levi can't leave the station, though Akmazian ranks slightly higher than Levi on 'people already in the know who Ryan would be okay being stuck with for 48 hours'.]

[He just needs enough time to pull his mind away from the feeling of Akmazian's skin against his own, to focus on why they came here again and hopefully tire himself out enough that he'll be able to return to the room and just fall asleep. Perfectly safe. Removing himself from the temptation until he can get himself under control again is the smart and responsible thing, damn it. Ryan dresses as quickly as he can, grabs the room key.]

Try to get some sleep. I'll try not to wake you when I come back.

[And he's out of there like a bat out of hell. Evening jogs are good for you too or something.]

[ he's definitely going to go to sleep, he tells himself. he's going to go to sleep so that he's not waiting like a golden retriever for ryan.

except that he totally is. there's no way that he's going to be able to sleep, knowing that he might need to jump up and to the rescue; he wouldn't forgive himself if he sulked and slept through ryan getting captured or worse.

he's going to pretend to be asleep, though, as long as the good doctor doesn't take too long to return. ]

[Ryan doesn't think he takes too long, though it is almost an hour. He sticks close to the hotel, as tempting as it is to see if he can casually go check out the ruins while he's out.

He runs his mind through drills instead, reciting medical procedures, mentally organizing lists of what he needs to do when he gets back to Eos 10, supplies that need ordering, what they're going to do if they find anything tomorrow, what to do if they don't.

It's tedious and relaxing in the routine of it. Combined with the jog, it's not quite as good as swimming laps but it does the job. The fire in his blood has cooled enough that he feels safe returning to the room and regardless he feels tired enough that sleep is really the only thing on his mind when he gets there, unlocking the door and opening it as quietly as possible in case Akmazian has fallen asleep while he's gone.

The man needs a good night's rest more than Ryan does, Ryan shouldn't be so selfish wanting something else along with that.]

[ it's not like ryan is the only one who wants that. ryan left his blood running hot in his face, a knot of desire in his stomach, and akmazian isn't really used to dealing with that. he'd tried to be good, to force himself to calm down and to go to sleep, but after nearly an hour with no word -

well, fuck.

he'll go relieve some tension in the bathroom, don his cloak, then go looking for him, he figures. which is why when ryan returns, the bathroom light will be on, the door slightly ajar. if he bothers listening in, he'll definitely hear the sound of quiet but heavy breathing, almost to the point of panting.

look, he's got a lot of new material to ruminate over while he jacks it tonight, okay. ]

[Ryan's first thought is concern when he sees the bed empty, the door ajar, hears the heavy breathing from it. Sure the medical scanner hadn't picked anything up in Ryan's blood that wasn't supposed to be there, but they weren't perfect. The poison that technically killed Levi also hadn't appeared.

So he's worried when he goes to the door though he doesn't push it open, calling out-]

Akmazian? Are you-

[He doesn't quite get to 'okay' before he realizes there's another reason Akmazian could be in the bathroom by himself breathing heavily, one that Ryan himself had considered. Uh. Uh.]

Ryan-

[ the word comes with a puff of startled breath and a groan. there's scrambling from inside the bathroom, before the door flings the rest of the way open. akmazian's lips are slightly parted, his pupils blown wide with arousal.

he is not really hiding much in those boxers of his. ]

Didn't - uh - run into any trouble, I hope.

No. No, everything's fine.

[Dont look at his crotch, don't look at his crotch, don't look at his crotch...

Ryan's gaze darts down to the tent in Akmazian's boxers. He is absolutely stairing.]

Um. Do you, uh, need...

[Need what? Privacy? Help? Ryan's still stairing.]

[ akmazian holds his breath, shutting his eyes as he tries to ground himself. this is not easy. ryan is no longer the only one low-key hoping that someone gets shot. ]

Not as impressive as yours, I know. [ he chuckles weakly. ] But let's be honest, here: most aren't.

[This tension between them is going to kill someone if they don't do something about it. They can't keep a clear head if they're too preoccupied with getting their hands on each other.

Ryan's still stairing.]

That was not exactly a normal circumstance.

[ and because he apparently has zero self-preservation instinct, he'll nod and half-smile. ]

Was pretty good when we caught you sleeping, too.

[Ryan's not looking at Akmazian's face to see the smile, he keeps staring, even unaware as his tongue darts out to wet his lips.]

[That's unexpected and a little startling and okay it draws Ryan's focus away. Better than a 'My eyes are up here' for sure.]

What?

[ that time he and jane snuck into his quarters for purely innocent reasons, of course. he swallows a quiet laugh, realizing now might not be the best time, and has the decency to look a little embarrassed. ]

Hey, uh- I just need another minute- I'll turn the shower on.

Do you want company?

[The words just kind of come out on their own. But. Hey, he can respect a no, leave Akmazian to his private time. Even if he feels kind of like an asshole as soon as he says the words - Akmazian's been giving him a bunch of little 'No's since this whole thing started.]

[ the sound he makes is a pathetic, puppyish little whine. he leans his cheek against the doorframe, staring at him with a pitiful expression. this is what he was trying to avoid, trying to avoid fucking up their already strained relationship long term. ]

... Yeah. More than anything.

[ hoarse and husky and purely honest. ]

[Ryan's seconds away from apologizing and backing off when Akmazian answers.

Words have not been helpful between them at all today, so he for once keeps his mouth shut. Ryan just yanks his shirt over his head and throws it aside before kissing Akmazian again and shoving his hand in the other man's boxers to take hold of him.

They just need to take the edge off here, the rest can come later.]

[ oh. well, that's not exactly what he was expecting, but he's definitely not going to complain about it. he throws his arm around around ryan's waist, back jolting ramrod straight the moment he feels the hand take hold of him.

fuck. yes. already it was so much better than the way he was touching himself, and ryan will probably feel him throb under his fingertips. ]

[ groaned, open-mouthed into the kiss. he is absolutely putty. ]

[If Ryan had more mental facilities available he probably would consider options for this that weren't 'handjob against the wall', but this is where they are now and he doesn't want to stop now that they've started. He's had a little practice with this now, of doing this for someone else, and he's surprised at how much of a thrill it is to feel Akmazian throbbing in his hand, hot and needy. Ryan's not looking to tease Akmazian or to make this last, they've basically been edging all night long. He's going for pure relief, hard and fast.

The hand not on Akmazian's dick goes up to hold the back of his neck again, like when Ryan kissed him in bed, teeth scraping against his lips, his jaw.]

the guilt is already settling in by the time he's pulling ryan's forehead up from his shoulder to kiss him softly, sweetly. it's a gesture full of tenderness and fondness and absolute warmth, before he separates from him and moves to the sink in the bathroom behind them. he's shaking a little with adrenaline, but there's precious little to be done about that right now; really, he just has to worry about salvaging the... whatever this is with ryan. ]

[Ryan just melts at the kiss, metaphorically speaking. He returns it at best he can, tired and sated himself, and even if he realized at the open affection and fondness he stared at Akmazian with he probably wouldn't have been able to stop himself.

Guilt is the last thing on his mind right now. Maybe he is still grieving the loss of his father a bit, not that he'd ever admit it, but if they both want this then why not go for it? Life's just too short to not try, isn't it? A quieter version of Jane's full-blown mid-life-crisis.

He regards his pants. Well, those are already messy, he'll need to have them washed. So he wipes his hands off on them and just shoves them off his hips entirely along with his boxers before leaning against the bathroom doorway to call out to Akmazian. His voice is a little horse now.]

[All Ryan wants is to clean up enough then go to bed.]
